The highly-anticipated PlayStation 5 next level gaming console will be launched on November 12 and will be priced at $749.95 alongside the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition for $599.95. Sony made its announcement overnight and confirmed the release date after only specifying the release window as Holidays 2020 for months. The launch date announcement from Sony comes a week after the Xbox Series X and Series X launch dates and pricing were confirmed. PlayStation 5 will be the same $749 price as the Xbox Series X and will be released on November 12 – two days after the Xbox Series X. PlayStation 5 will be available in Australia, US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and South Korea on November 12.
The rest of the world has to wait until November 19. The PlayStation 5 harnesses the power of a custom CPU (central processing unit), GPU (graphics processng unit) and SSD (solid state drive) with Integrated I/O (input/output) for faster loading. Users will be able to maximize their gaming sessions with near instant load times for installed PS5 games. The new PS5 console’s system has been optimised to allow creators to access data from the onboard SSD so quickly they can design games in ways never before possible. Players will be able to immerse themselves even further into these digital worlds with a new level of realism thanks to a technology called ray tracing with simulates each ray of light individually to create true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
The PlayStation 5 includes a 4K player for games and movies and supports up to 120fps with 120Hz output for smooth and fluid high frame rate gameplay. PlayStation 5 also supports HDR (high dynamic range) so if you have a 4K TV and a supported PS5 game you’ll see vibrant and lifelike range of colours. And if you plan on upgrading to an 8K TV, the PlayStation 5 has got your back with support for 8K output to enjoy your games on your 4320p resolution display. The PS5 Dual Sense Wireless Touch controller has also been redesigned with new adaptive triggers that allow users to feel the tension of their actions like drawing a bow to shoot an arrow. Sony wants players to feel like this controller is an extension of themselves.
